Arumugamangalam village had past glory and at present is in an unenviable position. Communications are not very satisfactory. Devotees going to the temple face lots of difficulties in arranging proper worshipping, stay & food. A society is formed with a view to provide minimum facilities and with the following objectives : To undertake and conduct functions, festivals, etc., to serve the public of the village to continue the customary functions and festivals and with a view to help those who are away and not able to undertake such works. To organise or contribute to Annadhanam. To help religious and charitable institutions including temples in renovations, constructions and rehabilitations. To organise and conduct Old age Homes, Orphanages etc. Also to create awareness among present and future generations of the past glory of the village, temples, customs etc. The institution is registered as IRAI PANI MANDRAM, and is registered under the Trust Act as Document No. 29/2000 by the District Registrar at Tuticorin. This is also registered under Income tax Act by the Commissioner of Income Tax - I, Madurai and alloted Regn. No. 15/2002 - 2003. Irai Pani Manram activities include the following :
1. White
and colour washing the temple premices during the Chitrai Festival,
participating 2. Organizing special prarthanas on behalf of devotees and conducting them. 3. Organizing Laksharchanai in Vinayaga temple, Pundarikakshaperumal koil & Amman koil. 4. Reviving the festivals in the temple which are defunct now and identifying proper devotees to continue them. Such activities include, Thirukalyanam, Thirukarthigai, Thiruvathirai, Pradoshams Lighting of deepam on all amavasya days. etc 5. Renovation and Restoration of old temples in the villages and adding new construction, organising proper poojas these temples. 6. Organizing Annadanam on Mahadevashtami , (Karthigai Sukla Ashtami) in Vinayagar temple. and during festival and other days. 7. Construction of a foot bridge across feed channel for approach to Ilayanainar Koil, west of Arumugamangalam. 8. As part of its activities it has undertaken developing a website containing details of the village , temple etc. The purpose is to put on record all available information for the benefit of the future generations. Provision is made for two way communications so that such information is updated / corrected frequently. The trust acts as an agency for compilation and is inviting information from all sources. 9. Engaging in activities to improve the economy of the village by utilising the tank for eco tourism activities and developement of resorts. and also helping the villagers in earning extra income using their spare time.
